Importance of regularly servicing your air conditioning systems

In order to make sure that your air conditioning system on your car continues to work you should make sure to have it checked every so often.  The same is to be said about a home air conditioning system, have it checked regularly.  You need to make sure that you pay attention to both and as soon as you notice that it may not be getting as cool as normal call a professional.  Or if you know a bit about the air conditioning systems you can even check it yourself.

Aircon servicingRegular service will allow a person to check for leaks or seals that may have been letting the refrigerant escape from the system.  With this you could have a problem with the compressor, if you don’t have a safety check system your system may still operate.  Operating the A/C without enough refrigerants in it can cause the compressor to be damaged or ruined completely.

With regular checkups your air conditioner will be checked to ensure that no leaks are in the hoses, seals, or even a small pinhole could be in the condenser, or evaporator which will allow the refrigerant to escape.  You should always make sure that before you go and add in more refrigerant that there are no leaks in the system.  If there are leaks you have really just wasted money on the recharge of the A/C system.

Once you begin to notice that air isn’t cold, either check the A/C system out yourself, or have it done by a professional.  But with a bit of knowledge you should be able to save money on a checkup by looking and regularly checking the system yourself.  But even if you check it every other month, you should still take the system to be checked by a professional.  Your owner’s manual will suggest how often this should be checked, or if you don’t have an owner’s manual look it up online.

When checking the A/C make sure that you also look at the condenser to make sure it isn’t leaking.  The clutch may be getting older and may stop working or even seize up on your condenser.  Again this may be a simple thing to see, but still have a professional check it over every so often.

Don’t forget that they do sell A/C pressure gauges in automotive stores too; this is an easy way to be able to check the pressure that is in your A/C.  If it’s low either add the refrigerant yourself or again take it in to a professional who will do it the right way.
Make sure that you keep a schedule of when you’ve last looked at the A/C and when it should be looked at by a professional.  This will ensure that you don’t let it slip your mind, and possibly cause a lot more problems with the system.  After all it’s a lot better to replace the cheaper things than to have major work done.
